ITE Projects have carried out a number of data centre refurbishments, we have listed a few.
Data Centre Refurbishment Projects
Work was carried out on a new cooling and fire suppression upgrade of the I.P. House data centre in East London.
The air conditioning was replaced with efficient inverter driven CRAC units.
The units were previously installed at out data centre fit out for B&Q Kingfisher and are reported to have achived significient cost savings over the old units.
The fire detection and suppression system was brought up to current data centre standards.
Mothercare / Early Learning Centre:
ITE added a new UPS to the existing system, together with a new UPS switchpanel, generator set and generator change over panel. The existing computer room was kept fully operational throughout the process.
An additional air handling unit was added enabling the cooling to run in n+1 configuration.
VESDA early warning smoke detection & water detection tape installed within the computer room.
Computer room monitoring was then added enabling AHU fault, temperature, humidity, battery condition & UPS condition to be remotely monitored.
The installation increased the resilience and capacity of the computer room, and was carried out with the room in full operation.
ITE added a new UPS system and UPS output board, which was incorporated within the existing computer room main switchpanel. A new generator auto changeover panel was added together with an emergency hook up point to allow connection to an external generator. The installation replaced some outdated switchgear as well as adding resilience to the computer room.
The facility was fully operational throughout the installation
Pulsant / Lumison:
An additional UPS was added to the existing system.
A new fire alarm & VESDA early warning smoke detection system added.
The data hall air handling units replaced and an evaporative cooling system installed within the UPS and technical area.
The facility was fully operational throughout the installation. See the Pulsant data centre refurbishment case study.
Refurbishment of 2 facilities
Extension and refurbishment of an existing data centre. Existing walls had to be demolished, new walls constructed. New heavy duty access floor installed, lighting and ceiling grid reconfigured.
2 New air handling units added,
The fire system was completely overhauled, including a new FM200 fire suppression system, fire detection and VESDA early warning smoke detection.
The works completed in 2014 and the facility kept fully operational throughout the installation.
The second data centre refurbishment for Iomart in Manchester is due to take place later in the year – see the news section.
